Terroirs & Climat
Imagine a unique combination: a deep draining soil, stony, of a quality equal to the greatest Rhone vineyards, located between the ponds of Petite Camargue and the Mediterranean Sea. This miracle exists, it represents less than 4% of the Costières de Nîmes appellation.
Less than 2 km from the ponds of the Petite Camargue Nature Reserve and 20 km away from the Mediterranean Sea, the climate is mild and steady and benefits from the alternative winds (Mistral) and Mediterranean breezes.
This results in a very early sprouting and a long period of gentle ripening of the grapes, in a cooler and milder climate than the region as a whole.
Le Clos des Centenaires is established on 7 hectares on a hill in the heart of this very special enclave. The orientation of the rows of the vineyard allows the young vines to be implanted North South on a slope South, and for the old vines (Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault) oriented East-West, in a goblet on a South-East slope.
The Mas des Centenaires, a few hundred meters south of the Clos, hosts the winemaking facilities and the 22 hectares of vineyards around it, which also benefit from the proximity of the coastline.
